Finally, here’s a cop show just for cops

Two East Coast law enforcement guys, Mack Pettigrew and Rich Schumaker, hook up each week via telephone and record this weekly podcast that tries to be a police blotter on matters of interest to the law enforcement community.

Nearly every episode salutes “fallen heroes,” the names of officers who died in the course of their jobs.

But the show doesn’t just high-five the uniform. Shows also publicize news involving cops behaving like criminals; a recent podcast discussed a New York City policeman caught stealing credit cards from corpses.

Nearly every show also offers some tech tips for people using computers in the field or the office.

Pettigrew is a sergeant with a police force in Ontario, Canada. Schumaker is a trainer with a police academy in Virginia. Both men use Macs and record their podcasts via iChat.

“One little fun fact is that Mack and I have never met in person,” Schumaker said via e-mail.

The show can be downloaded or listened to directly from its Copcast.net site. Or it can be subscribed to or found at itunes.com.
