Bonners girls, Timberlake boys win

BONNERS FERRY – The Bonners Ferry girls cross country team took first place at the District I-II 3A Cross Country Championships Friday held at Mirror Lake Golf Course.

Bonners Ferry runners finished 1-2-3. Melody Braden took first with a time of 21 minutes, 22 seconds. Casey Hampton was second in 21:51, followed by Mandy Sandaker (22:44).

Timberlake’s Melanie Andrews was fourth in 23:27 to take fourth, followed by teammate Chelsea Cazier (23:33).

Timberlake was second in the team scoring, followed by Priest River and Kellogg.

Timberlake’s Frank Lagrimanta guided the Tigers boys to first place with a winning time of 16:40. Andrew Scott (17:09) of Priest River was second.

Bonners Ferry’s Ray Sayers was third in 18:26, followed by Timberlake’s Christopher Dallenbach (18:31). Priest River’s Ryan Ewing was fifth in 18:59.

Priest River took second in the team scoring, followed by Bonners Ferry and Kellogg.

The top two teams and top one-third of individuals advance to the state championships.
