VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Unbeaten Vancouver showed why it’s the No. 1-ranked team in the Canadian Hockey League Friday night, as the Giants handed the Spokane Chiefs a 3-0 loss in front of 6,914 at the Pacific Coliseum in Western Hockey League action.

The Giants (11-0-1-0) took advantage of a Spokane penalty when Tim Kraus put home a rebound from the slot to score his sixth goal of the season at the 13:30 mark of the opening period. Assists on the power-play score went to Milan Lucic and Michal Repik.

Vancouver scored once again with the man advantage at 5:05 of the second period when defenseman Jonathon Blum redirected a shot from teammate Spencer Machacek. Kraus also assisted on the play to collect his second point of the night.

Repik put the finishing touches on the win when he scored his sixth goal of the season on an empty netter with 2 seconds remaining. Lucic hit Repik with a pass on the play for his second assist on the night.

Chiefs (5-4-2-0) goaltender Kevin Armstrong turned away 27 of the 29 shots he faced.

The loss marked the first time Spokane has been shut out this season.
