Secret Witness is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of suspect in an assault that occurred following a beer theft at a Spokane Valley convenience store.

Benjamin R. Camden, 25, is described as 5-foot-6 and 200 pounds with blue eyes, said Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan. Detectives believe Camden was living in an apartment in the 3100 block of South Whipple at the time of the incident.

On Oct. 6, a man went into the Valley View Conoco at 12221 E. 32nd Ave. and grabbed two cases of beer then left without paying, Reagan said. The clerk pursued him until the suspect fell. While attempting to hold the suspect on the ground, another man, thought to be Camden, stepped out of the dark and punched the clerk in the mouth, knocking out two of his teeth.

The thief has not been identified, but detectives have a warrant charging Camden with second-degree assault, Reagan said.

Anyone with information regarding Camden’s whereabouts is asked to call (509) 327-5111. Callers can remain anonymous, but should provide a code name or number.

Teens accused in graffiti incidents

Two 14-year-old boys were arrested this week for 18 incidents of graffiti in Spokane Valley.

The University High School students are accused of spray-painting initials, slogans and other images in the area surrounding the high school, said Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan. One of the boys spray painted graffiti inside the Valley Hospital where he went to be treated for an injury.

The Spokane Gang Enforcement Team, comprised of local and federal law enforcement agencies, determined the graffiti was not gang-related, Reagan said.
