Meet your Neighbor

Carl Gidlund correspondent

Name: Clydene Blocker

Age: 53

Hometown: I was born in Everett and lived in Japan, Texas and Labrador. I’ve lived in Rathdrum and Spirit Lake for the past 32 years.

Occupation: Librarian at the Hayden Library

Family: My husband, Rick, and I have two sons, Joshua, 31, and Nathan, 27. They’re both in the Air Force and are serving in Korea.

Hobbies: Crafting, gardening, reading, genealogy and Native American arts. That includes making drums, bows and arrows. Oh, and mailing things to Korea.

What do you like about North Idaho? The trees, streams and lakes. I also like the fact that people leave their Christmas decorations up all year long.

What do you like or dislike about the current season? I just love fall. The mornings are cool, and the afternoons are comfortably warm.

Favorite music: Country and bluegrass, especially Willie Nelson.

Favorite TV show: “Deal or No Deal”

Favorite movie: “African Queen”

Favorite spot in North Idaho? Why? It’s a five-mile walk from Spirit Lake to a little stream called Brickle Creek where there’s a nice little waterfall into a pool. It’s just so pretty there.
