The trick-or-treaters may not show up at your front door until Tuesday night, but plenty of ghosts and zombies and witches will get the party going this weekend.

Here is some of what’s happening in North Idaho for Halloween and fall festivities open to the public:

Post Falls Lions Haunted House – runs through Halloween at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Post Street; not recommended for young children. Friday-Saturday 6 p.m.-midnight, Sunday-Tuesday 6-10 p.m. Proceeds benefit the community with eye care, glasses, handicap ramps, college scholarships. (208) 773-5016.

The Amaizing Corn Maze – corner of Beck and Prairie Roads, south of state Highway 53, across from the Shell Station in Hauser. Through Monday: today 4-11 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-11 p.m., Sunday noon-9 p.m., Monday 4-9 p.m. An additional “Haunted Maze” is open daily 6 p.m. to close. More than five miles of paths inside three mazes. No pets, purses or backpacks; wheelchairs and strollers enter at your own risk; no refunds. (509) 242-2668.

Special Needs Recreation Halloween Dance – today 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Prairie View Elementary, 2478 E. Poleline, Post Falls. Includes dancing, food and prizes for best costume. Transportation provided from designated areas. $3 admission. Sign up to reserve a spot. (208) 769-2317 or (208) 755-6781.

Rathdrum Haunted House to Benefit Special Olympics – today-Saturday, 6 p.m.-midnight at the Lions Club, 16114 N. Meyer Road. Proceeds benefit Idaho Special Olympics. Tickets $5 in advance at Stein’s IGA, $7 at the door. (208) 687-2717.

Sandpoint Theatrical Haunted House – today-Tuesday, 6-10 p.m., corner of Sixth and Church Streets. A maze of theatrical scenes depicting a twisted version of what happened to Sandpoint’s tallest building, the granary. Sponsored by Arts Alliance; $3. (208) 255-5273.

Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association Fall Festival – Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Fifth Street and Sherman Avenue downtown. Vendors, crafts, food, face painting, music and wagon rides. Sponsored by the Downtown Association and Kootenai County Farmers Market. (208) 667-5986.

School Indigo Fall Festival – Saturday 4-8 p.m. Carnival-style games, raffles, kids’ costume contest, chili cook-off contest. (208) 765-1555.

“The Cat Screamed at Midnight” – Saturday, 7 p.m. at The Song Bird Theatre, 315 N. 4th St. Mystery theater benefit for The Women’s Center and ICARE of Coeur d’Alene; silent auction, raffle, hors d’oeuvres, dessert and beverage; $35. (208) 664-3672.

Pennsylvania Avenue Pumpkin Party Fall Carnival – for families, Tuesday 5-9 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 Pennsylvania Ave. Includes food, prizes, cake walk, virtual jail. “Trunk or Treat” in the parking lot.
