Wallace moves on at State 1A tournament

Wallace advanced with two victories in pool play and Coeur d’Alene Charter was eliminated after three straight losses at the 1A State tournament at Declo High School and Burley High School on Thursday.

Wallace defeated Troy 2-0 and Horseshoe Bend 2-1 before falling to Hagerman 2-0 to finish 2-1 in Pool A.

The Miners will face Pool B No. 1 Genesee at 9 a.m. today.

Coeur d’Alene Charter lost to Garden Valley 2-0, Cascade 2-0, and Shoshone 2-1.

Grethe Vogel had 13 kills as Pullman defeated Cheney (5-9) 25-21, 25-9, 25-4 on the final night of the Great Northern League. The Greyhounds (14-0) will have a first-round bye in the District 7 2A tournament and will face Wednesday’s winner between No. 5 Deer Park and the No. 4 seed. Colville and Riverside, which tied for third with 9-5 records, will play Monday to determine the third and fourth seeds. … Also in the GNL, Kayla Newberg had 18 kills and four blocks as Riverside beat Colville 27-25, 25-23, 25-19. Emilee Lepp had 10 kills, 13 digs to lead the Indians. … Bailey Wold had 11 kills as visiting WV (11-3) beat Clarkston (1-13) 25-23, 28-26, 25-15. Indigo Starr led Clarkston with seven kills. … Melissa Veale had 11 kills and 15 digs as DP (6-8) defeated Medical Lake (1-13) 25-20, 25-20, 25-20.
