A real page turner

You never know what you'll find at a library book sale. There will be books of every variety and type, but you might also be able to find music and movies. The Friends of the Valley Library will host a sale of the library's cast-offs today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the library, 12004 E. Main Ave. So make some room in the bookcase and head over for some quality browsing time.

So many parties, so little time

Anyone looking for a way to have some Halloween fun need look no more. There are several options available. Children in preschool through the fifth grade can attend a fall carnival at East Valley High School, 15711 E. Wellesley Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. A Halloween party with games and candy hosted by Valley Real Life will be from 6:30 to8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Central Valley High School, 821 S. Sullivan Road. Admission is a nonperishable food item per child. Valley Bible Church will host a fall festival with hayrides and games from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church, 3021 S. Sullivan Road. Millwood Presbyterian Church will have its annual Trunk-or-Treat event from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the church parking lot. There will be cars with trunks full of candy, and hot apple cider at the church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road.

Spokane Valley Heritage Museum - “United We Stood” a World War II exhibit featuring archives, photos, artifacts and memorabilia.
