Churches host alternative trick-or-treat adventures

The battle between children wanting to go get candy and parents leery of dark streets and cold temperatures happens every year. But two Valley churches have come up with indoor options for little ghosts and goblins in search of candy and a little fun.

Millwood Presbyterian Church will have its annual Trunk-or-Treat event on Halloween from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the church parking lot. There will be cars with trunks full of candy and some hot apple cider to sip on. The church is at 3223 N. Marguerite Road.

Valley Bible Church will host a Fall Festival on Halloween from 7 to 9:30 p.m. There will be hay rides, games, square dancing and lots of candy. The church is at 3021 S. Sullivan Road.

Benefit auction

The 10th annual Pasadena Park Church of the Nazarene Ladies’ Ministries dinner and auction is set for Friday at the church, 8822 E. Upriver Drive. A homemade soup dinner will be served from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for a $3 donation. Bidding in the silent auction will be from 6 to 7 and a live auction will begin at 7. All proceeds will benefit Ladies’ Ministries outreach programs. Call 926-5858 for more information.

Family fun

It’s time for another Family Fun Night at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road. The event begins at 6 p.m. Friday. Families are invited to bring a dish to share at the potluck dinner and stay for games, candy and prizes. Those attending are also asked to bring their own table setting. Fall bazaars

“Millwood Presbyterian Church is putting on its annual Fall Bazaar today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road. There will be crafts, baked goods and more.

“Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, 115 N. Raymond Road, will host its annual Holidays in the Valley bazaar next Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be craft items, baked goods, candy and more. Lunch items will be available for purchase.
