Spokane man killed in crash

A 27-year-old Spokane man died Saturday after he lost control of his car near the southern Kootenai County line, the Idaho State Police said.

Gaylord Wapato was driving a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am south on Senkler Road near Rose Creek in Benewah County at about 11:39 a.m. when he lost control and ran into a ditch. The vehicle flipped over and ejected him out the back window, according to the ISP.

Wapato was not wearing his seatbelt, police said. No one else was in the car.
