Timberlake escapes in OT to post win over Riverside

Nick Puckett scored on a 4-yard pass from Levi Powers in overtime to give Timberlake (3-0) a 42-41 win over Riverside (1-1) in a non-league game in Spirit Lake.

Puckett also scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with 2:11 left in the fourth quarter to send the game to OT.

Riverside scored first in the overtime period when Chris Wise caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Derek Martin. The Rams, however, missed the extra point.

Puckett led all rushers with 253 yards on 37 carries and scored five total touchdowns. Tigers quarterback Levi Powers was 7 of 15 passing for 126 yards and two touchdowns.

In other non-league action, Potlatch scored four rushing touchdowns and beat Kellogg (1-2) 25-21 in Kellogg. Wildcats quarterback Ty Ketchum was 8 of 11 passing for 217 yards and scored two touchdowns in a losing effort. … Clayton Foster ran for 128 yards on 11 carries and scored four touchdowns as Kamiah routed St. Maries (0-4) 64-0 in St. Maries. Lee Harding led Kamiah with 88 passing yards and threw for two touchdowns.

Lakeland (3-1) ran for 214 rushing yards and threw for 163 more as the Hawks beat West Valley (2-1) 42-14 at West Valley. … Bryan Nelson rushed 11 times for 120 yards and had one touchdown to lead Priest River (2-2) to a 28-6 win over Deer Park (0-3) in Priest River. Richie Morales added 65 rushing yards and two touchdowns for the Spartans. Priest River’s defense also came up big, intercepting three passes. …Shane Moser and Ethan Monroe scored two touchdowns apiece as Lewiston (2-1) won 42-28 at Hermiston, Ore.

North Star League

Elliott Phillip scored from 2 yards out in the fourth quarter to give Wallace (2-2, 1-0) a 32-26 comeback victory over host Clark Fork (2-2, 0-1). The Wampus Cats had a 26-20 lead entering the fourth quarter before giving up 12 unanswered points. Ryan Miller led Clark Fork with 284 rushing yards on 34 carries and scored three touchdowns in a losing effort.

Northeast A

Freeman (2-1, 2-1) had 431 yards of total offense as the Scotties beat Chewelah (0-3, 0-3) 47-6 in Northeast A League play in Freeman. Scotties quarterback Andrew Dresback had 137 passing yards and threw for four touchdowns and rushed for another in the win. Chris Davis led all rushers with 144 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns. Jordan Hoxie scored Chewelah’s touchdown on a 2-yard run in the first quarter. … Lucas Fox had 165 yards on 11 carries and scored three touchdowns as Kettle Falls (3-0, 3-0) beat Newport (0-3, 0-3) 54-9 in Kettle Falls. Brian Stroebel added 84 yards on seven carries for the Bulldogs. …Colfax (3-0, 3-0) beat host Lakeside (1-2, 1-2) 35-28 in Nine Mile Falls.

Justin Whitney rushed the ball six times for 120 yards and scored two touchdowns as Lind-Ritzville (2-0, 2-0) beat Selkirk (0-2, 0-1) 41-8 in Ione. Will Maupin led Selkirk with 70 rushing yards and a touchdown. … John Macias scored four touchdowns and ran for 168 yards as Liberty (2-1, 1-1) pounded Wellpinit (1-2, 0-1) 48-18 at Liberty. Lancers quarterback Taylor Heiydt had 102 passing yards and threw for two touchdowns. Cougars quarterback Austin Mannick added a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown and returned a fumble 32 yards for another score. … Logan Luiten caught two touchdown passes to lead Odessa (3-0, 1-0) to a 34-12 win over Almira/Coulee-Hartline (2-1, 0-1) in Odessa. Jon Janye had 114 rushing yards on five carries to lead Reardan (2-0) to a 37-6 win over Liberty Bell in Reardan. Overall, the Indians rushed 34 times for 236 yards and held Liberty Bell to 112 yards of total offense. Reardan quarterback Chance Ackerman had 106 passing yards, including a 40-yard touchdown pass to Jared Wilke in the first quarter. … J.T.
