Welcome Home!

Cheryl-anne Millsap By Cheryl-Anne Millsap

What do you see when you walk into a house for the very first time? Each of us can give a different answer.

Some see a place that is perfect just as it is, others spy a project that with just a little elbow grease can turn a quick profit on a hot real estate market. Still others see an empty space just waiting to be filled with art and personality.

That’s what happened with the cover story in this week’s issue.

Artist, designer and visionary Steven Wachholtz walked into a run-down house and saw nothing but potential. You can see the evidence of his design ethic in the photographs of his Nettleton’s Addition home.

Moving outdoors, gardening columnist Pat Munts writes about finding solace and order amidst chaos in life and the garden. And she’s got answers to reader’s questions about their outdoor spaces.

This week’s beautiful home feature is also a beautiful story: A group of Holy Names Music Center cello students, and their parents, came together to create a high-style studio for a woman who has been teaching local students for more than 20 years.

The surprise makeover left everyone involved with tears in their eyes and big smiles on their faces. You’ll smile, too, when you read the story.

And, in this week’s Treasure Hunt column, readers share heartwarming stories of heirloom quilts.

As always, we’ve put something for everyone in HOME. From decorating and remodeling to recycling and caring for your pets, we’ve brought you great ideas and inspiration.

So, whether you’re a regular reader, or just walking through the door for the first time, we hope you like what you see.
