Basketball

Oct. 14-15: The Eastern Washington University Intramural Sports program will be hosting the 12th annual EWU Fall Shootout 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. High school and adult divisions only. This is a double-elimination tournament with referees on all courts. Entry deadline is Oct. 3. Entry forms available at www.ewu.edu/imsports and at Spokane area Subway restaurants. Canoeing/Kayaking

Oct. 1: Columbia River Kayak Tour, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for ages 18 and up. Cost: $34, which includes transportation, guides, boat and equipment. Contact Spokane Parks and Recreation at 625-6200 for more information.

Oct. 8: Priest Lake Tour, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for ages 12 and up. Cost: $29, which includes canoe, equipment, guide and transportation. Contact Spokane Parks and Recreation at 625-6200 for more information.

Oct. 13-18: Lake Roosevelt Mothership Kayak Tour for ages 18 and up. Spokane Parks and Recreation will provide all kayaking equipment, sleeping accommodations on the houseboat, meals and guides. Climbing

Oct. 1: Discover Rock Climbing, 6-8 p.m. for women ages 18 and up. Classes are held indoors on the climbing wall at Mountain Gear, 2002 N. Division. No equipment required. Cost: $24. Info: 625-6200.

Cycling

Oct. 1: Trail of the Coeur d’Alene Bike Tour, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for ages 14 and up. 40-mile ride ends with a late lunch at the Famous Snake Pit Restaurant in Enaville. Cost: $39. Info: 625-6200.

Oct. 7: Mt. Spokane Autumn Bike Ride, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the Mt. Spokane High School southwest parking lot. Riders must wear a helmet. Cost: $19 for two people, $15 for one. Info: 625-6200.

Fishing/Hunting

Oct. 3: Future of national forest roadless areas in Washington, by Derrick Knowles, program for Inland Northwest Wildlife Council, 7:30 p.m., 6116 N. Market.

Multievent sports

Oct. 1: Hayden Tri-Sport Classic, presented by Camp MiVoden, 7:30 a.m. at the Avondale Golf Course. This event combines golf, bowling and trap-shooting into a team event. Contact Kevin Smith at 772-3484 for more information.

Outdoors

Oct. 13: Ed Viesturs will give a presentation about mountaineering at the Met Theater at 7 p.m. Viesturs is the first American to climb all fourteen 8,000-meter peaks. Tickets are $10 at the Met and at Mountain Gear, 2002 N. Division.

Skiing/Snowboarding

Oct. 15: 2006 Spokane Snow Show at the Big Easy Concert Hall presented by the Inland Northwest Ski Association. Tickets are $5 at the door. Children 12 and under are free. Free adult tickets are available at participating area ski retailers. For more information go to www.spokanesnowshow.com.
