Blessing of pets Sunday at Episcopal church

If you’re a firm believer in the adage that pets are people too, you’ll feel especially welcome Sunday at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 15319 E. Eighth Ave. In honor of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, the church will host a blessing of the pets after the 8 and 10 a.m. worship services Sunday.

Feel free to bring any pet, but make sure the animal is caged and/or leashed appropriately to avoid complete chaos. The church’s youth group will also be collecting donations of pet food and supplies Sunday.

Mission conference

New Hope Bible Church will host a mission conference Sunday and Monday at the church, 1445 N. Argonne Road. Conference hours are from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Lunch will be provided on Sunday.

The conference will feature speakers from local organizations such as Life Services of Spokane, Compass USA and True Light Ministries. Children’s missionary sessions will also be offered. Call the church at 487-1017 for more information.

Musical worship

Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, 115 N. Raymond Road, will host a special musical worship service Sunday at 9 and 11 a.m. The services will feature special guest the Rev. Rich Rubietta, a songwriter and worship consultant form Grayslake, Ill. Refreshments will be served after the services.

Gospel concert

Mark Gray will be singing in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Bible Baptist Church, 11111 E. 16th Ave. Admission is free and child care will be available.
