Mayor earns leadership certificate

Spokane Valley Mayor Diana Wilhite recently earned a certificate of municipal leadership from the Association of Washington Cities.

To do so, she completed more than 30 hours in courses on leadership, municipal budgeting, city planning, and other topics, according to a news release from the city.

Wilhite has served on the City Council since Spokane Valley incorporated, first as deputy mayor, then as mayor starting in late 2004.

The AWC represents all of the state’s 281 cities and towns before the Legislature and offers other services, including the training completed by Wilhite and other members of the council.
