MONDAY

Gonzaga University graduates Joe Bereta and Luke Barats — known for YouTube videos such as “Mother’s Day” — are working with Spokane-based Corner Booth Productions to develop video advertising for companies seeking a younger audience.

“ Three Microsoft researchers have created an online test using images of dogs and cats to help determine whether a user is human. The “captcha” helps protect computer systems from being hacked.

TUESDAY

The Catholic Diocese of Spokane released a payment plan describing the legal process necessary to assign dollar amounts to specific acts of sexual abuse. It’s part of the diocese’s effort to emerge from bankruptcy protection and settle claims of sex abuse by priests dating back decades.

■ The state Department of Social and Health Services is revoking the operating license for an adult family home in Valleyford called Pure Country Home. DSHS says the operator did not ensure that residents received prescribed medications, among other claims. The operator disputes the claims.

WEDNESDAY

A retail complex that could include a Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse has been proposed for 23 acres of land near Sullivan Road and Broadway Avenue in Spokane Valley.

THURSDAY

The stock price of Spokane-based Gold Reserve Inc. shot up 50 percent after the company announced it has received permits to build one of Venezuela’s largest gold mines.

Circuit City announced plans to lay off 3,400 retail workers, including seven in the Spokane area, and hire lower-paid employees to replace them.

FRIDAY

The $10.25 million Cornerstone Courtyard project will transform a historic warehouse in downtown Spokane into 50 workforce housing apartments. Northeast Washington Housing Solutions put together a public-private partnership to develop the project.

“ A local niche publication for seniors is being redesigned as a bimonthly lifestyle magazine. “Prime: Having the Time of Your Life in the Inland Northwest,” will debut in July, catering to people over age 50.
