$500,000 bond set in Kellogg killing

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

A judge set the bond at $500,000 Monday for a Kellogg woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death.

Also, an autopsy was performed Monday afternoon on Stephen C. Cotsford, 54, of Pinehurst. Kellogg police continue to investigate Sunday’s stabbing death. The town has not had a murder since the early 1990s.

Kellogg Police Chief Dave Wuolle said the investigation into Cotsford’s death is in the early stages and he likely won’t release details until next week.

Cotsford was found dead, stabbed in the chest, at his girlfriend’s home at 126 North Ave.

Laurena Chambliss, 44, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of second-degree murder and booked into the Shoshone County jail.

Cotsford didn’t live at the home, and Wuolle said he was unaware of any previous domestic violence calls at the address. He declined to say whether anyone else was at the home at the time of the stabbing.

Chambliss has a minor arrest record for unspecified misdemeanors, Wuolle said. He said Cotsford also had an arrest records, mostly misdemeanors including several driving under the influence charges.
