Feature creature: Ben

Kim Lytle Correspondent The Spokesman-Review

The other part of this gentle giant is Irish wolfhound, which makes him a “big Lab.” He is 5 years old and has been at the shelter since September. His original owners surrendered him and said he had no bad habits but wasn’t good with the kids.

This is a big dog with a tiny bark, and he has been a perfect gentleman with the children he has met at the shelter. He is gentle, playful and housebroken, and he comes when he’s called.

Ben has been temperament-tested and was found to be good with cats and other dogs. He is playful, affectionate and mellow. One power walk around the yard, and then it’s back to the couch for this guy.

If you like big, mild-mannered guys, come meet Ben at the Humane Society of Spokane, 6607 N. Havana St. The telephone number is 467-5235. Adoption fees include neutering, vaccinations, microchip and vet check. Ben has been sponsored, so his adoption fee is $80. License is extra.
