Place orders now for plant sale

East Valley High School is holding its 10th-annual plant sale, with a portion of the proceeds to support band students.

Gardeners may purchase bedding plants for $18 a flat; gallon tomatoes for $5 each, including cherry tomatoes; 4-inch pots for $5, including vinca, lotus, dracaena, and zonal and ivy geraniums; 8-inch plastic color bowls for $9, with a variety of annuals; and 12-inch hanging baskets for $25. Herbs, including basil, also are available.

The plants are Spokane Valley nursery-grown plants.

All sales are by preorder only and are due by April 18. Order forms are available online at www.evsd.org.

Attach an order form along with a check payable to East Valley Band Boosters and mail to EV Band Boosters, P.O. Box 15166, Spokane Valley, WA 99215-5166.

Orders will be available for pickup from 9 a.m. to noon May 5 at the district administration office, 12325 E. Grace.

Branch to open inside Albertsons

The Bank of Fairfield will open its newest branch in Spokane Valley with construction beginning soon at 32nd Avenue and state Highway 27.

The branch, to be located on the Albertsons commercial pad, is scheduled to open before the end of the year. It will provide full retail bank services including drive-through banking and a 24-hour drive-up ATM.

“Our bank offers the kind of friendly recognition so difficult to find in today’s fast-paced environment,” wrote Geoff Forshag, bank president, in a news release.

The Bank of Fairfield is in its 99th year of operation with branches in Fairfield, Rockford, Spangle, Spokane, Rosalia and Sandpoint.

Motorcycle poker run, ride Saturday

Area motorcycle clubs will hold a scenic ride and poker run Saturday to benefit the Colon Cancer Foundation and a local rider who is fighting the disease.

Registration begins a 9:30 a.m. at the Slab Inn at 800 W. Seltice Way in Post Falls. Breakfast will be available there before the ride, which starts at 10:30 a.m.

The route passes by several area lakes and concludes with a raffle drawing, poker prizes and taco bar at the Pit Stop in Post Falls.

After dinner, riders will meet at Big Al’s, 6361 W. Seltice Way in Post Falls, where proceeds from the bull ride also will benefit the cause.
