Astros 9, Phillies 6: At Philadelphia, Carlos Lee hit three homers, including a grand slam, and drove in six runs for Houston. Lee hit a solo homer off Brett Myers (0-2) in the second inning, and his slam came off Myers in the third. Lee connected again to straightaway center field off Ryan Madson in the ninth for his first three-homer game.

Dodgers 9, Padres 1: At Los Angeles, Derek Lowe pitched eight strong innings and Nomar Garciaparra hit a two-run single as Los Angeles beat San Diego.

Marlins 11, Braves 4: At Atlanta, Dontrelle Willis (3-0) pitched seven innings to help Florida get the win, allowing three earned runs on eight hits.

Reds 6, Cubs 5: At Chicago, Josh Hamilton, Adam Dunn and Ken Griffey Jr. had consecutive RBI hits during a six-run fifth as Cincinnati overcame a 5-0 deficit against Carlos Zambrano (1-2). Giants 8, Pirates 5: At Pittsburgh, Barry Bonds hit two homers to help San Francisco’s Russ Ortiz (1-1) end a 12-game, 20-month losing streak.

Mets 3, Nationals 2: At New York, pinch-hitter Julio Franco singled in the go-ahead run against Washington.

Rockies 6, Diamondbacks 3: At Phoenix, Colorado’s Brad Hawpe hit a tiebreaking two-out, two-run double in the seventh, and Todd Helton drove in two runs, including the 1,000th of his career, to defeat Arizona. Jeremy Affeldt (1-0) pitched an inning for the win.

Brewers-Cardinals, ppd.: The Milwaukee at St. Louis game was postponed by rain, and the second game of a three-game series was pushed back six hours.
