Boys soccer

Cole Abramson scored the first two goals, both headers from Josh Pollelo, as East Valley rolled to a 3-0 win over host North Central (2-10, 0-7) Wednesday to remain in a tie for first atop the Greater Spokane League standings with the Mead Panters.

Abramson finished the game with two goals and an assist.

Josh Peck recorded the shutout for the Knights (7-3, 6-1).

Elsewhere, Tim Doggett led a balanced offensive attack with a goal and an assist in Mead’s 6-1 victory over visiting Shadle Park (4-7, 3-5). The Panthers (9-1, 6-1) also hold a share of the GSL lead. … Alec Cutter scored the game’s lone goal after taking a 40-yard pass from Sam Palmer to set up a 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper, and Ferris edged visiting University 1-0, knocking the Titans into third place. DJ Bray got the shutout for the Saxons (6-5, 3-3), who handed the Titans (7-3, 6-1) their first league loss. U-Hi keeper Ryan Dixon stopped two 1-on-1 attempts despite letting Cutter’s goal through. … Josh Kauffmann scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 60th minute to lead Gonzaga Prep (4-5, 3-3) to a 4-3 win over host Mt. Spokane. The Wildcats (1-10, 1-6) made a run with back-to-back goals in the 70th minute by Nick Reilly and Brett Megaard, but they could not close the gap. … Kevin Cameron had a goal and an assist as Central Valley rolled past visiting Rogers (2-7, 1-6) 4-0. Nick Pigar and Ryan Wurz combined on the shutout for the Bears (6-4, 4-3).

Baseball

Lake City scored nine runs in the final three innings en route to a 14-1 win over host Post Falls in an Inland Empire League matchup. Tucker Anderson started the scoring outburst with a two-run home run in the fifth inning. He finished 2 for 2 with two RBIs. Dylan Collinson finished 2 for 5 with three RBIs, including a two-run home run in the sixth and a one-run double in the seventh. Trent Bridges sealed the game with a three-run homer in the seventh. He finished 2 for 5 with four RBIs. Seven LC players had multiple hits. Chris Combo pitched six shutout innings, tallying four strikeouts and three walks, to pick up the win for the Timberwolves (9-5, 5-4). Lake City moved into third place in the league standings with the win. Nae Douglas knocked in the Trojans’ (6-10, 3-7) run with an RBI single in the sixth.

Track and field

The Priest River girls swept Kellogg (71-62) and St. Maries (95-42) in an Intermountain League double dual meet at Priest River. Kellogg topped St. Maries 107-30 in the other final. The Spartans had four double winners in the meet. Tabitha Clark finished first in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Lacy Hopkins won the 400 and high jump. Keisha Miller topped both the high and low hurdles, and Stephanie Crow finished first in the long and triple jump. On the boys’ side, Kellogg topped Priest River 82-55 and St. Maries 74-61. Priest River defeated St. Maries 73-64 in the other final. Adam Furlin paced the Wildcats with wins in the shot put and discus. Ian Boyle of St. Maries posted wins in the 100 and 200.
