Red Sox 7, Yankees 6: At Boston, Mike Lowell hit one of Boston’s four consecutive home runs off rookie Chase Wright in the third inning, then connected for a go-ahead, three-run shot in the seventh that led Daisuke Matsuzaka and the Red Sox to a sweep over New York.

Tigers 6, White Sox 5 (12): At Detroit, Marcus Thames hit a tying homer with two outs in the ninth inning, Placido Polanco singled home the winning run in the 12th and the Tigers rallied to beat Chicago.

Orioles 7, Blue Jays 3: At Baltimore, Nick Markakis and Miguel Tejada each had three RBIs and the Orioles completed their first three-game home sweep of the Blue Jays in 13 years. Jay Payton contributed three hits and scored twice in his first start with Baltimore.

Indians 6, Devil Rays 4: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Ryan Garko hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the ninth inning and Cleveland rallied past Tampa Bay, overcoming an outstanding pitching performance by James Shields. Joe Borowski got three quick outs for his seventh save.

Royals 3, Twins 1: At Kansas City, Mo., Jorge De La Rosa pitched a career-high eight innings and retired 16 in a row during one stretch to lead the Royals to a victory over Minnesota, helping Kansas City win its first series of the season. Mike Sweeney went 3 for 4 for Kansas City and Ross Gload hit a two-run homer.

Rangers 4, Athletics 3: At Arlington, Texas, Hank Blalock hit a two-run single and Texas scored three runs in the eighth to rally past Oakland. Huston Street blew his first save in five opportunities.
