Fresh sheet: Help AIDS fight on Thursday by dining out

Dine out Thursday at one of 10 local restaurants and that dinner bill will do more than just warm your tummy for the evening. It will help the local Spokane AIDS Network raise money to help men, women and children in the area who are living with HIV and AIDS.

Each of the restaurants listed below will donate 20 percent of the food and beverage bills to the Dining Out For Life effort, which is sponsored by Subaru. More than 2,500 restaurants in 43 cities have joined the cause.

Dining Out for Life is a nonprofit that is dedicated to the fight against AIDS. The money raised will benefit the Spokane AIDS Network.

Out of the office…

Today is the due date for my second child and I’ll be taking a leave from the paper for the next four months.

While I’m gone, Features Editor Ken Paulman will take over most of my duties editing the Wednesday Food page. Questions, concerns and story ideas can be directed to him at (509) 459-5480 or kenp@spokesman.com.

Heather Lalley will take over writing this column. So, if you have food news to share or ideas that you’d like to suggest for the Fresh Sheet, send them to heatherl@spokesman.com or call (509) 459-5089.

And correspondent Carolyn Lamberson will be writing the Cook’s Notebook, which appears inside the food section every other week. If you have a recipe request or a food question you can continue to send it to cooksnotebook@spokesman.com and Lamberson will get your message.

See you back here in August.
