Inland Northwest quilters get chance to share ‘Passion’

“Quilt Passion,” under way at River Park Square’s Kress Gallery, is showcasing the textile art of leading Inland Northwest quilters.

Lining the walls are 40 handcrafted fabric works by quilting standouts such as Pamela Mostek of Cheney, Jean Shute of Otis Orchards and Linda Anderson of Spokane.

A reception runs Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. with live jazz music by pianist Joe Close. The exhibit is up through Sept. 30.

A quilting demonstration is scheduled in association with the exhibit on Sept. 21 and 22. Instructor Joe Kuhel will show “innovative methods with free motion quilting, creative embellishments, beading and appliqués,” according to Sherry L. Johnson of River Park Square in a news release.

Spokane First Friday

Bank Left Gallery

The Bank Left Gallery in Palouse, Wash., opens its August show on Saturday with an artists’ reception from 1 to 5 p.m. There will be live music by Trio Dolce of Moscow, Idaho.

Handblown glass artists Robert and Kathy Kernan from Clarkston and oil painter Linda Dillard from Palouse are featured during August.

The Dahmen Barn

While in the Palouse area, take in the new Roberta Tiemann exhibit at the Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown, Wash.

Tiemann is showing more than 30 watermedia paintings including watercolors, collage, acrylic, mixed media and gouache.
