Pirates 15, Cardinals 1: At Pittsburgh, Ronny Paulino quieted some booing hometown fans with a grand slam during a five-run Pittsburgh first inning to carry the Pirates past St. Louis.

Nationals 7, Reds 2: At Washington, John Lannan took a shutout into the sixth inning, and the Nationals roughed up Bronson Arroyo in a victory over Cincinnati. Arroyo was lifted after allowing seven runs in 1 2/3 innings.

Marlins 4, Rockies 3: At Miami, Byung-Hyun Kim survived a 37-pitch first inning and had a career-high 10 strikeouts as Florida held off Colorado.

Braves 12, Astros 3: At Atlanta, Mark Teixeira hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs in his Atlanta debut, leading the Braves to a victory over Houston.

Mets 8, Brewers 5: At Milwaukee, New York pounced on Claudio Vargas early, hitting a pair of three-run homers on its way to a victory over the Brewers. Mets left-hander Oliver Perez gave up five runs in the first two innings.

Cubs 5, Phillies 4: At Chicago, Matt Murton raced home on Brett Myers’ bases-loaded wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth as the Cubs beat Philadelphia taking over first place in the Central.

Dodgers 6, Giants 4: At Los Angeles, Barry Bonds went 0 for 3 with an intentional walk in the San Francisco’s loss to the Dodgers.

Diamondbacks 9, Padres 5: At San Diego, Eric Byrnes’ infield single off Heath Bell with two outs in the 11th brought home Jeff DaVanon from third base with the go-ahead run and gave Arizona a win over the Padres.
