Students receive WSU awards

Washington State University honored area high school students for their academic achievement.

Hannah Reidy received a $2,500 University Achievement Award. She is the daughter of John and Rebecca Reidy of Newman Lake and graduated from East Valley High School in June.

Nikole Hahn was awarded a $2,000 Evelyn Hacker Colonial Dames/Daughters of the American Revolution scholarship. She graduated from East Valley High School in 2004 and is the daughter of Sherri Hahn of Spokane.

Wesley Millard received a $5,000 University Achievement Award, a $1,000 Opportunity Award, and a $1,000 Future Cougars of Color Award. He is a recent graduate of University High School and is the son of Dave and Bev Millard of Spokane.

Grant Bescheta was awarded a $500 College of Engineering and Architecture Dean’s scholarship and a $1,000 University Achievement Award. He is the son of Douglas and Margie Beschta of Spokane Valley and recently graduated from Central Valley High School.

Seth Packwood was awarded a $2,500 University Achievement Award and a $1,000 College of Engineering and Architecture scholarship. He graduated from University High School in June and is the son of John and Phyllis Packwood of Spokane.

Casey Whitehead of Spokane Valley was awarded a $1,000 Alumni scholarship from Eastern Washington University. She graduated in 2005 from Central Valley High School and is the daughter of Gerald and Connie Whitehead of Spokane Valley.

Chad Walters of Spokane Valley received a $2,500 Scholastic Honors scholarship from Eastern Washington University. Walters is a recent graduate of Northwest Christian School and is the son of John and Lorrie Walters of Spokane Valley.
