Kohl’s to hire 300 at four job fairs

Recruiters from Kohl’s Department Stores will hire about 300 area workers starting this week at job fairs for two stores the large Midwest retailer plans to open this fall in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene.

Most of the jobs are for floor workers, merchandise handlers, freight unloaders, housekeepers and clerical workers. Details about those jobs are posted at the company’s recruitment site, at www.kohlscareers.com.

Company spokeswoman Anne Simaytis said Kohl’s doesn’t give out exact details on wages and benefits.

“We do have good wages and medical benefits, plus 401(k) plans, stock ownership and purchase discounts,” she said.

The positions to be filled are both full- and part-time and include store supervisor and management positions, Simaytis said. The retailer’s first two stores in this area will open the first week of October at NorthTown mall in Spokane and in Coeur d’Alene, at 545 W. Aqua Ave., just off U.S. Highway 95.

Though Kohl’s has made no announcements about a third store, the retailer has submitted documents to the city of Spokane Valley showing plans for a two-level store on the 16000 block of Broadway Avenue, east of Sullivan Road.

The job fairs for the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene locations will run four days:

•From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

•From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.

•From 12:30 to 7:15 p.m. Aug. 14.

Spokane interviews will be held at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park in downtown Spokane, 303 W. North River Drive. The Coeur d’Alene session will be at the AmeriTel Inn, 333 W. Ironwood Drive.

All applicants need to arrange an interview time before the day they attend, Simaytis said. Applicants must use either an online application or call the company’s toll-free number, (877) 639-5645.

“We won’t see applicants unless they’ve gone through the step of securing a specific time,” she said.
