Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

SEATTLE – Taylor Graham and Zach Scott scored two minutes apart in the first half, and the Seattle Sounders pulled their second consecutive upset in the U.S. Open Cup with a 5-0 win over the Colorado Rapids on Tuesday night.

Seattle got an own goal from the Rapids late in the first half, then received goals from Sebastien Le Toux and Josh Gardner in the second half turning the match into a rout.

Seattle, tied with Portland on top of the USL First Division, extended its unbeaten streak to 11 games. The Sounders are 10-0-1 since June 26, including wins over Chivas USA in the third-round of the tournament on July 18.

The Sounders (11-5-5 in USL) will host FC Dallas on Sept. 4 in the tournament semifinals.

The Sounders are just the seventh non-MLS team to advance to the semifinals of the tourney since 1996 when the MLS debuted.
