LC student named to Earthwatch program

Steven Lippert of Lewis and Clark High School was selected to spend two weeks in the Earthwatch Institute’s Student Challenge Awards summer Program.

• Recent winners from the 2007 Washington Interscholastic Activities Association/Washington Music Educator’s Association State Solo and Ensemble Contest from Spokane Public Schools are:

Joel E. Ferris High School: Andrew Repsold, second place snare drum solo; advanced percussion ensemble – second place in small percussion ensemble; chamber orchestra – third place in string large ensemble.

Lewis and Clark High School: Jeffrey Burkert, third place, French horn solo; Jared Katz, third place, snare drum solo.

Elizabeth Gleesing of Spokane was awarded a $6,000 University Scholarship Award from the University of Washington recently. She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 2005 and is the daughter of John Gleesing and Rob and Kate Sorensen of Spokane.

• Caitlin McDowell of Medical Lake recently graduated from Montana Tech with a bachelors of science in Safety and Health Engineering. She graduated from Medical Lake High School in 2003 and is the daughter of Tim and Susan McDowell of Medical Lake.
