Car hits elderly pedestrian downtown

An elderly woman suffered life-threatening injuries Friday night after being struck by a car.

The woman, who has not been identified, was hit in front of 1303 E. Sprague Ave., said Spokane police Officer Teresa Fuller.

The incident occurred about 10 p.m., police said, and the woman was taken to a downtown hospital. Streets near the scene were shut down while police investigated. Further details on the incident were unavailable.
