Tony Bennett headlines Fox Theater lineup

Legendary crooner Tony Bennett tops the Fox Theater’s grand opening lineup, announced Friday.

Here’s the schedule:

“ International opera star Frederica von Stade with the Spokane Symphony, Nov. 17

“ Community Day, a free all-day event featuring a variety of local acts, Nov. 18.

“ Tony Bennett, the pop-jazz icon, Nov. 19.

“ Blues-rockers Too Slim and the Taildraggers with the Spokane Jazz Orchestra, Nov. 20.

“ Thomas Hampson, internationally acclaimed baritone from Spokane, in a “Home for the Holidays” concert, Dec. 29.

Tickets for all of these events will go on sale to Fox donors, Spokane Symphony subscribers and Best of Broadway subscribers on Aug. 27. Tickets go on sale to the public on Sept. 5. Tickets will be available through the Symphony box office at (509) 624-1200 or through TicketsWest outlets (509-325-SEAT, 800-325-SEAT, www.ticketswest.com).

Fox general manager Patricia Iron said that the multi-million dollar renovation is proceeding on schedule, allowing for the Nov. 17 grand opening date. The opening has always been scheduled for late fall.

“We have 100 workers in the building, working furiously,” said Iron.

The Grand Opening Gala Evening with mezzo-soprano von Stade will feature a special $200 ticket package which will include dinner at the Davenport, as well as regular tickets ranging from $125 to $40.

Tickets for Bennett will run from $200 to $100; for Too Slim, $30 to $10; and for Hampson, $100 to $25 with special reception-included tickets up to $500.

All of these concerts are separate from the regular Spokane Symphony season. The first Spokane Symphony series concert in the Fox will be on Dec. 1 and 2.
