Red Sox 10, Angels 5: At Boston, David Ortiz’s grand slam capped a six-run fifth inning, Curt Schilling got his first win since a one-hitter two months ago and the Red Sox beat Los Angeles.

Yankees 5, Tigers 2: At New York, Roger Clemens won in his return from a suspension and Bobby Abreu hit a go-ahead homer that clanked off the foul pole, carrying the Yankees to a victory over Detroit. Jorge Posada also homered and finished with three hits.

Rangers 5, Twins 0: At Minneapolis, Marlon Byrd homered and drove in four runs, sending Kameron Loe and Texas past Minnesota. Loe came off the disabled list and threw five shutout innings, overcoming five walks by ending four of those innings with two runners on.

Royals 7, Athletics 3: At Oakland, Calif., Jason Smith hit a pair of two-run homers, Ross Gload also connected and Kansas City captured the season series with the Athletics for the first time in nine years with the victory.

Orioles 5, Blue Jays 3: At Toronto, backed by J.R. House’s first major league homer, Steve Trachsel won for the first time in 10 starts and Baltimore beat the Blue Jays. Trachsel allowed three runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings and retired 15 of 17 batters during one stretch.

Indians 8, Devil Rays 1: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Jake Westbrook gave up one run over seven innings, Asdrubal Cabrera hit his first major league homer and Cleveland beat Tampa Bay. Grady Sizemore also went deep for the A.L. Central-leading Indians, who extended their advantage over the Tigers to 1 1/2 games.
