Goodbye, Sue. It’s been nice knowing you.

“A T. rex Named Sue” soon will be leaving the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, and the museum plans to celebrate with a special kids’ day on Saturday.

The popular, life-sized dinosaur replica has been on display all summer, drawing kids and kids at heart who are entranced by the huge beasts.

Saturday’s events, from noon to 3 p.m., will include hands-on activities by Science Safari Camp and the chance to touch real fossils.

The activities are free with museum admission: $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and students (kids 5 and under admitted free).

The museum is at 2316 W. First Ave. The “Sue” exhibit will close Sept. 12.

B-ball madness

More than a few kids admired the basketball skills of former Gonzaga University player Dan Dickau when he played in town.

Now an NBA player, Dickau is making a stop in Spokane this week. He will appear with “Grizz,” the Memphis Grizzlies mascot, at Mobius Kids from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

His visit is free with paid admission. Mobius Kids is at 808 W. Main Ave. on the lower level.

Free pizza

The Liberty Lake Recreation Department is hoping that the words “free pizza” will grab the attention of just about any teenager.

The department is offering the free food to teens willing to attend a special meeting Thursday to give their ideas on what recreation opportunities the city should offer.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Liberty Lake City Hall, 22710 E. Country Vista Drive. It’s a great chance to be heard while eating the most important item in the teen food group.
