PARENTAL GUIDANCE

Excerpts from discussions on the Parents Council blog last week:

Running away: “When my daughter was 5, we arrived home and she was mad at us, so she declared that she was going to leave on a walk. I told her in very happy tones that was OK, but to watch out for cars, strangers, loose dogs, and so on. Her 2-year-old brother stood at the gate yelling at her to come back, and we watched her kicking a rock in the curb for a while. Then she came in and said she’s decided not to go since her brother was so upset.”

Love thy neighbor: “What do you do when a neighbor tells something to your kids that you do not like? Something that you do not agree with? Something you don’t consider to be well-meaning advice?”
