TV documentary tells Libby story

Next week, the public TV documentary series “P.O.V.” will broadcast an episode about asbestos contamination in Libby, Mont.

Produced by University of Montana graduates Drury Gunn Carr and Doug Hawes-Davis, “Libby, Montana” has been included in independent film festivals across the country, and has won awards.

The film includes archival footage, news reports and residents’ voices. “Industrialists, politicians, workers and ordinary citizens all play a role in this American tragedy,” Hawes-Davis said in a news release.

The film airs on KSPS on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 9 p.m. and the same day at 10 p.m. on KUID.
