The Spokesman-Review

BOISE – The Boise Hawks scored three runs with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning Thursday night, including Josh Donaldon’s two-run single to center, to claim an 8-7 Northwest League victory over the Spokane Indians in front of 1,762 at Memorial Stadium.

With the win, the Hawks remains one game back of East Division-leading Tri-City, which defeated Yakima 8-5. Spokane is two games back.

With one out in the eighth, Jose Made and Tony Thomas hit consecutive singles. Andrew Laughter replaced Ryan Falcon on the mound for Spokane.

Laughter induced Jovan Rosa to foul out to the catcher for the second out. Brandon Guyer followed with a single to center field, scoring Made and moving Thomas to third base. Guyer went to second on a throw.

Donaldson followed with the eventual game-winner.

Spokane had rallied from a 5-3 deficit with a four-run top of the eighth inning, highlighted by Cristian Santana’s three-run blast to left. One-out later Victor Barrios homered to left center to give Spokane a short-lived 7-5 lead.

Engel Beltre and Andres James also drove in runs for Spokane.

Donaldson drove in three runs for Boise.

Spokane manager Tim Hulett was ejected in the fifth inning for arguing balls and strikes.

The fourth game of the six-game series is tonight.
