Linehan says job is safe

Coach Scott Linehan won’t lose his job because of the St. Louis Rams’ 3-10 record.

The former University of Idaho quarterback and assistant coach said he received a vote of confidence from team president John Shaw a few days before Sunday’s 19-10 loss at Cincinnati.

“It’s important to know you’ve got support and those things,” Linehan said. “But at this point it’s really not my issue. My issue is trying to get our fourth win.”

Important games ahead for Chiefs

The Spokane Chiefs have three more important games this week before they break for the holidays.

All are within the U.S. Division and will be played at the Arena, beginning with Portland on Wednesday.

The Western Hockey League-leading Chiefs (24-5-1-2, 51 points) have a four-point lead over Tri-City atop the division and will play host to the second-place Americans on Saturday after a visit from Seattle on Friday.

Spokane will be idle from Dec. 16-27. After the break, the Chiefs play a home-and- home series against Kootenay. They play in Cranbrook on Dec. 28 and host the Ice the next night.
