Rathdrum mayor much appreciated

I would like to thank Mayor Brian Steele for the great job he has done for the city of Rathdrum.

He has been a mayor you could call any time, and implemented the first Thursday Mayor’s night to be easily available to Rathdrum citizens. It was through Mayor Steele’s support that the Historical Society received the old jail building. During his tenure the Park and Recreation Building on Main Street was completed, as well as Thayer Park and John Brown Field. Fencing and better lighting has been added to the police station and the pathways for Highway 41 and Highway 53 are almost complete.

The city has had incredible growth, and Mayor Steele has guided us through the maze of quite a few new large and small subdivisions, making sure the needs of our schoolchildren would be met, plus attending extra out-of-town meetings to insure we had adequate fire protection. Changing the city attorney and prosecuting attorney positions from employee to a contract basis has saved us money as will having our own engineer on staff.

I wasn’t for a city administrator but turns out Steele was right on target … Brett Boyer has been an excellent asset from the get-go. The new police chief, Kevin Fuhr, was also a great selection.

Thank you Mayor Steele for your time as a Rathdrum councilman and then a great Rathdrum mayor. You are well-respected and appreciated.
