Mt. Spokane dominated the upper weights Wednesday night and took over first place alone with a 58-16 win over visiting Rogers in Greater Spokane League wrestling.

The Wildcats (3-0) won every match from 135 pounds up, six by pin and two by forfeit.

Mt. Spokane’s Corbin Richardson pinned Mike Langford in the third round at 160 pounds after trailing 6-2.

The Wildcats’ Teddy Fernau, wrestling up one weight class at 215, pinned Thomas Kaley in 40 seconds.

In a match between freshmen at 130, Aaron Brown of the Pirates (1-2) defeated Austin Pea 9-4.

Mt. Spokane entered the night tied for first with East Valley, which was idle. The Wildcats host one of the league’s favorites, Central Valley, at 7 tonight.

Elsewhere in the league, Brandon Matlock’s 21-3 technical fall at 103 helped University (2-1) rally from a 20-4 deficit to defeat visiting Lewis and Clark 38-26. The Titans followed Matlock’s win with four consecutive pins. Taylor Keeton’s 16-1 technical fall at 135 gave U-Hi a 38-20 lead. The Tigers (0-3) got an early charge from Joey Via’s 8-5 win over Jacob Fry at 160, Steve Johnson’s 7-3 win at 215 and Andre Taylor’s major decision at 285. … Coby Walsh (145) defeated Dillon Coy 5-4 with a takedown in the final 10 seconds as Ferris (2-1) recorded a 49-26 win over visiting North Central (0-2). In the first match, at 160, Ian Bauman countered to pin Ryan Funke in 30 seconds after initially being rolled on his back. … Jacob Trotter (215) returned from an injury to register one of Mead’s six pins during a 59-14 win over visiting Gonzaga Prep (0-2). The Panthers (2-1) won the top six upper weights, five by pin, including Nick Bond’s pin at 152. … CV (2-1) won 10 of 14 matches during a 37-22 win over visiting Shadle Park (1-2). CV’s Tyler Ames outlasted Timothy Potter 16-14 at 119. At 145, the Bears’ David Borgman edged Keith Harris 11-9. Shadle had three pins, including Justin Trevino’s over Braden Davis at 112 with 4 seconds left.

“Deer Park (1-0) finished with seven pins during a 65-10 win at Pullman (0-2) in the Great Northern League. Drew Acorn (103) and Waylan Cork (171) had pins for DP. Brad Church of Pullman posted a 12-3 major decision at 125.

Boys basketball

Cody Moreland and Austin Black had 11 points and 10 rebounds apiece to help Lakeland (2-3) to a 51-46 non-league overtime win at Medical Lake (2-1). ML had six turnovers in OT and the teams were 22 of 43 from the line.

Girls basketball

Camille Reynolds and Alyana Watson combined for three 3-pointers and 21 points while leading Lakeland (1-6) to a 45-30 win over Timberlake (5-4) in non-league play at Spirit Lake. Lakeland finished with 29 more field-goal attempts than the Tigers. Cassie Thompson, a 6-foot-1 post, scored 19 points for Timberlake, hitting 7 of 12 field goals and 5 of 8 from the free-throw line. … Elsewhere, Alyssa Kaculek scored 27 points to lead the Lake City freshmen to a 56-24 win at Mullan. Fawn Story had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers (0-6). … Bailey Hewitt scored 12 points to lead Clark Fork (7-2) to a 35-22 win over the visiting Post Falls junior varsity.

Gymnastics

The GSL meet at North Central featuring Lewis and Clark, Mt. Spokane and Rogers was postponed when the uneven bars broke during competition. No makeup date was reported.
