The Spokesman-Review

After winning a Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges crossover tournament in Olympia convincingly during the weekend, the Community Colleges of Spokane’s men’s basketball team has its sights set on a little revenge.

The Sasquatch, who rolled over Columbia Basin 81-62 Sunday in the championship game, return home to entertain the only school to beat them in an 11-1 start, Peninsula, Tuesday night at 7 at SCC.

Matthew Dorr from Mt. Spokane hit 5 of 6 3-pointers in scoring a game-high 18 points to lead CCS to victory and earn a spot on the all-tournament team with teammates Jon Clift (Ferris) and Robert Lippman (Northwest Christian).

Bo Gregg (Lewiston) had 13 points, Clift and Lippman 11 apiece and Eric Beal (North Central) 10 assists as CCS capped a 3-0 tournament run.

Junior hockey

Sam Dielwart and Brent Lucente scored two goals apiece to lead the Castlegar Rebels to a 5-1 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League victory over Spokane at Eagles Ice-A-Rena and complete a two-game sweep of the Braves.

The Rebels had won 5-3 Saturday night in Castlegar.

Justin Schaffer gave the Braves a 1-0 lead Sunday before the Rebels took command.
