Teachers certified nationally

Several Spokane Public Schools teachers have recently become National Board Certified teachers. Being selected for this honor means that a teacher has been judged by his or her peers as someone who is accomplished in their field.

The teachers are Catherine Beadle and Pamela Kidder at Glover Middle School; Roben Cooper Dixon, Jessica Finley and Patricia Puyear at Longfellow Elementary School; Laura Demersseman from Sheridan Elementary School; Daniel Farley from Finch Elementary School; Susan Gerard from Lewis and Clark High School; Megan Maguire Rowand from Garry Middle School; Emily Torres from Ferris High School and Lisa Vance from Holmes Elementary School.

Superintendent search

Spokane Public Schools has launched a nationwide search to find a new superintendent.

The district is asking for input from the public.

There will be two community meetings Jan. 7 at 6:30 p.m. One at Chase Middle School, 4747 E. 37th Ave., and the other at Salk Middle School, 6411 N. Alberta.
