Prep Wrestling: East Valley stays perfect in GSL

East Valley remained undefeated in the Greater Spokane League with a 59-12 victory over North Central Thursday at NC.

The Knights won 12 of the 14 matches, including six by way of pin.

At 103 pounds, EV’s Keith Babington defeated Indians freshman Jared Berlinger 9-6.

Nick Bellomy (160), Clete Hanson (189), Jordan Berezay (215), Sean Biltoft (125), Jake Rodriguez (130) and Eric Start (135) all recorded pins for the Knights (4-0).

Nathan Brown (112) and Devon Silva (152) had pins for NC (2-3).

Elsewhere in the GSL, Ferris notched five pins and cruised past Gonzaga Prep 59-15 at G-Prep. Parker Green (119), Colby Walsh (145), Max Coulson (152), Andre Rivera (171) and Christian Alexander (189) all had pins for the Saxons, who also won three matches by forfeit. Ferris improved to 5-1 on the season while the Bulldogs fell to 0-5. … Central Valley won the first eight matches and defeated Lewis and Clark 44-15 at CV. At 125, the Bears’ Jacob Hollenbech earned a pin in his first varsity action, taking down Austin Holzer in 1 minute, 55 seconds. CV improved to 5-1 while the Tigers dropped to 0-6. … Mead won eight matches by way of pin and rolled over Shadle Park 64-6 at Mead. The Panthers won the first three matches and 12 out of 14 overall. Jacob Trotter (215), Cody Foote (285), Hayden Douglass (103), Robert Murphy (119), Kyle Courtney (135), Chandler Shuff (171) and Mike Banta (189) all recorded pins for Mead. The Panthers improved to 4-1 in league while the Highlanders dropped to 2-4. … University dominated from the outset, winning the first five matches, and defeated host Mt. Spokane 55-12. The Titans won 11 of the 14 matches. At 130, Mt. Spokane freshman Austin Pea edged U-Hi’s Justin Livingston 5-4. The Titans improved to 3-1 while the Wildcats fell to 3-3. … The league season returns Jan. 3 with five meets – EV at Mead, Ferris at CV, U-Hi at NC, G-Prep at Rogers and Mt. Spokane at LC.
