NHL: Spezza reaches milestone in Sens win

Jason Spezza scored a power-play goal for his 300th NHL point and Dany Heatley had two assists to reach 50 points this season, leading the Ottawa Senators to a 5-2 win over the New York Islanders on Thursday night at Ottawa.

Daniel Alfredsson scored his 22nd goal and Martin Gerber made 24 saves for the Senators.

Canadiens 5, Lightning 2: At Tampa, Fla., Andrei Markov and Andrei Kastsitsyn scored 24 seconds apart early in the third period and Montreal beat Tampa Bay.

Flyers 4, Maple Leafs 1: At Philadelphia, Joffrey Lupul scored two goals and Marty Biron made 34 saves for the Flyers to beat Toronto.

Panthers 5, Thrashers 3: At Atlanta, Nathan Horton scored two goals for to help Florida beat the Thrashers.

Penguins 4, Capitals 3 (OT): At Pittsburgh, Sergei Gonchar made up for two misplays by scoring in overtime after Darryl Sydor had tied it late in the third period, and the Penguins rallied to beat Washington.

Predators 4, Blue Jackets 3: At Nashville, Tenn., Ville Koistinen’s first NHL goal was a winner as the Predators edged Columbus.

Red Wings 4, Avalanche 2: At Denver, Valtteri Filppula scored two goals and Dominik Hasek made 22 saves in Detroit’s win over Colorado.

Ducks 2, Oilers 1: At Edmonton, Alberta, Doug Weight scored a tiebreaking goal with 3:39 left to lift Anaheim over the Oilers.

Wild 3, Coyotes 2: At Glendale, Ariz., Niklas Backstrom made 46 saves in Minnesota’s victory over Phoenix.

Canucks 5, Flames 3: At Vancouver, British Columbia, Henrik Sedin scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period and Taylor Pyatt added an insurance goal 6:59 into the third, leading the Canucks over Calgary.

Penguins forward Sidney Crosby leads the league in all-star voting with 445,144 votes. … Joe Sakic will undergo hernia surgery today and the Colorado Avalanche captain will be out of action for up to three months. … Avoiding the potential of a second embarrassing sexual harassment trial, Madison Square Garden settled a lawsuit with Courtney Prince, a former New York Rangers cheerleader who had accused executives of making unwanted advances. … New York Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro sprained his left knee but might miss only one game.
