Green’s big second half helps Gators roll Tide

Taurean Green scored 20 points in the second half and No. 1 Florida overcame an 18-point deficit to beat No. 25 Alabama 76-67 Wednesday night in Gainesville, Fla., and extend the nation’s longest winning streak to 17 games.

The Gators were down 22-4 early in the first half and 42-31 at the break.

Green was 0 for 6 from the field and 0 for 5 from 3-point range in the first half.

Green, the team’s leading scorer and point guard, made 6 of 7 attempts in the second half and helped rally the Gators (24-2, 11-0 Southeastern Conference), who matched a school record for consecutive wins.

The Tide (18-7, 5-6) dropped to 1-5 on the road in conference play.

(2) Ohio State 64, Penn State 62: At State College, Pa., Greg Oden had 15 points and 10 rebounds to help the Buckeyes (23-3, 11-1 Big Ten) hold off the Nittany Lions (10-14, 1-10) for their 10th straight win.

(3) Wisconsin 75, Minnesota 62: At Minneapolis, Alando Tucker helped the Badgers (25-2, 11-1 Big Ten) overcome a flat first half by scoring 29 points in a victory over the rival Gophers (9-17, 3-9).

(8) Memphis 69, Tulsa 52: At Tulsa, Okla., Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 20 points and tied his career high with four steals, and Antonio Anderson returned from an injury to score 15 points as the Tigers (22-3, 12-0) clinched a bye in the Conference USA tournament by beating the Golden Hurricane (15-9, 5-6).

(9) Kansas 75, Colorado 46: At Boulder, Colo., Russel Robinson scored 14 points and Darrel Arthur added 11 to lead the Jayhawks (22-4, 9-2 Big 12) in a rout of the Buffaloes (6-15, 2-9).

DePaul 72, (12) Marquette 67: At Rosemont, Ill., Sammy Mejia scored 18 points and Draelon Burns hit a pair of free throws with 26 seconds left as the Blue Demons (15-11, 6-6 Big East) held on for a victory over the Golden Eagles (21-6, 8-4).

(17) Air Force 69, Utah 43: At Air Force Academy, Colo., Nick Welch tied a career high with 20 points and Dan Nwaelele added 19 as the Falcons (22-4, 9-3 Mountain West Conference) extended their home winning streak to 29 with a win over the Utes (9-15, 4-7).

Duke 78, (21) Boston College 70: At Boston, Josh McRoberts scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help the Blue Devils (19-7, 6-6) avoid their first five-game losing streak in coach Mike Krzyzewski’s 27-year tenure, beating the Atlantic Coast Conference-leading Eagles (18-7, 9-3).

Iowa State 61, (13) Texas A&M 54: At Ames, Iowa, Nicky Wieben scored 20 points and Toccara Ross added 12 and 13 rebounds, leading the Cyclones (18-7, 6-6 Big 12) to a victory over the Aggies (19-4, 9-3).

(15) Baylor 75, Oklahoma State 66: At Waco, Texas, Bernice Mosby scored 21 points and Angela Tisdale added 15 to lead the Lady Bears (22-4, 9-3 Big 12) to a win over the Cowgirls (17-8, 5-7).

(18) Bowling Green 91, Akron 46: At Bowling Green, Ohio, Megan Thorburn scored 14 points, including four 3-pointers, to help the Falcons (23-2, 12-0) beat the Zips (9-15, 2-10) and remain undefeated in the Mid-American Conference.

Texas Tech 70, (19) Nebraska 69: At Lincoln, Neb., Patrice Edwards hit two free throws with 24 seconds left then blocked a potential game-winning shot to push the Lady Raiders (15-11, 6-6 Big 12) to a win over the Cornhuskers (21-5, 9-3).

(23) Rutgers 68, Syracuse 40: At Syracuse, N.Y., Kia Vaughn had 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Scarlet Knights (16-7, 9-3 Big East) in a victory over the Orange (8-17, 2-10).
