Colton’s girls earned their first trip to state with a 49-42 win over St. John-Endicott Thursday in a District 9 1B semifinal basketball game at Colfax Elementary. Alisa Moehrle scored 16 points, including 11 in the first half, to lead the Wildcats (20-4), who will face Tekoa-Oakesdale in the championship game Saturday at Colfax High School. Kristy Curtis scored 13 points and Kelsey Simon had 12 for the Eagles (11-13), who play Sprague-Harrington in a winner-to-state, loser-out game today at 6 p.m. at Colfax HS. … Kelsi Graffis scored 13 points, nine in the first quarter, and Lauren Varney added 11 as T-O (16-7) qualified for state by defeating Garfield-Palouse 43-27 at Colfax HS. Elisha Lopez scored eight points for the Vikings (12-9), who will meet Tri-Cities Prep in a winner-to-state, loser-out game today at 6 p.m. at Colfax Elementary.

Boys

Jared Ayers-Stamper scored 18 points to lift LaCrosse-Washtucna to a 54-51 state-qualifying win over Tri-Cities Prep in a semifinal at Colfax HS. Adam Roberts added nine points for the Tigercats (11-14), who will face Liberty Christian in the championship game Saturday at Colfax HS. Andrue Ott scored 20 points and Sergio Lopez added 16 for the Jaguars (6-15), who will take on Rosalia today in a winner-to-state, loser-out game at 4:30 at Colfax Elementary. … Israel Morgan scored 21 points and Ben Price added 18 to lead Liberty Christian to a 67-50 state-qualifying win over St. John-Endicott at Colfax Elementary. Justin Taylor scored 16 points and Warren Miller chipped in 11 for the Eagles (12-12), who managed 10 more free-throw attempts than the Patriots (13-8) converting just 6 of 14. SJE will face Tekoa-Oakesdale in a winner-to-state, loser-out game today at 4:30 p.m. at Colfax HS.
