Sex offender in Greenacres

Spokane Valley police warned Wednesday that a level 3 sex offender has moved into the Greenacres area.

He is Jacob M. Rogers, 19, who was convicted of second-degree child rape in 2003. Rogers’ victim was 12.

Police said Rogers is living in the 500 block of North Barker Road.

He is 6 feet tall, weighs 165 pounds and has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Level 3 sex offenders are considered the most likely to commit more sex crimes.

Offender, burglar near Broadway

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office wants residents in the 9600 block of East Broadway to know that a level 3 sex offender has moved into the area.

David Robert Rickard, 45, is described as white, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 166 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair that’s going gray, and a 1-inch scar on his left shoulder, Sgt. Dave Reagan said.

Rickard was convicted in 1995 of first-degree burglary with sexual motivation in Stevens County, Reagan said. His victim was an adult woman.

Woman sought in shoplifting

Secret Witness is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of a woman who allegedly used her 2-year-old child as cover in a shoplifting attempt at the Spokane Valley Mall.

Shawna M. Broadwater, 24, was described as white, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 220 pounds. She has brown hair and green eyes, said Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Dave Reagan. Her last known address was in the 3100 block of East Marietta.

Broadwater is wanted on charges of third-degree assault and second-degree theft, Reagan said. She allegedly went into a Sears store on Oct. 15 and put merchandise in her child’s stroller where her 2-year-old was sitting.

“When confronted by store security, she grabbed the child out of the stroller and pushed it at the security officer,” Reagan said. “When that didn’t deter him, she kicked the officer and fled to a waiting vehicle.”
