Oilers cool down Red Wings

Ryan Smyth scored the only goal of the shootout, giving the Edmonton Oilers a 4-3 win Friday night at Detroit that snapped the Red Wings’ 13-game home winning streak.

Smyth, Raffi Torres, and Marty Reasoner had goals for Edmonton in regulation and Dwayne Roloson stopped 27 shots.

Henrik Zetterberg, Tomas Holmstrom and Valtteri Filppula scored for the Red Wings, whose streak ended one short of tying a franchise record.

Bruins 6, Lightning 2: At Tampa, Fla., Brad Boyes had two goals and Tim Thomas made 24 saves, leading surging Boston, which has won eight of 10, past Tampa Bay.

Stars 4, Ducks 1: At Dallas, Mike Smith stopped 24 shots, Jussi Jokinen and rookie Krys Barch both had a goal and an assist, and the Stars pulled out a victory over slumping Anaheim, 2-4-2 in its last eight games.
