Fire District 13 (Newman Lake) – Commissioner Robert Neu was selected as the new chairman and Commissioner Eileen Weyrauch was selected as vice chairman. Fairfield City Council – Council members heard a presentation from Spokane Regional Solid Waste System representatives on future state requirements for solid waste. They voted to choose Century West engineers as the town’s primary engineers for the year and the company Thomas, Dean and Hoskins as the secondary firm. They discussed plans to apply for a grant to help fund the planned skate park. They also discussed reviewing the dog ordinance. (Source: Deputy clerk Donna McLean)

Valley Fire – Commissioners discussed consolidated police and dispatch services and reviewed the budget. The district is currently under anticipated expenses compared to this time last year. They also received information on call statistics compared to last year, which are 37 percent higher than this time last year. Rockford City Council – Representatives from Spokane Regional Solid Waste Systems discussed state regulations and the required solid waste plan. Council members passed a resolution declaring the old powerhouse surplus property. The brick building is on Rockford’s Register of Historic Places. (Source: Town clerk)

West Valley SCOPE – The group now has nine volunteers who have received graffiti training. Volunteers got computer training on how to submit online reports to the Sheriff’s Office. (Source: President June King)
