Dymond Simon scored 15 of her career-high 24 points in the first half to help No. 13 Arizona State beat Washington State 89-44 Thursday night in Tempe, Ariz.

The Sun Devils (13-2, 3-1 Pac-10) used a 14-0 run to take a 23-9 lead midway through the first half, and were ahead 46-18 at the break.

Katie Appleton led the Cougars (5-10, 1-4) with nine points.

Emily Westerberg (Central Valley High) scored 19 points, hitting 9 of 9 from the free-throw line for the Sun Devils, who have won nine of 10. ASU’s Aubree Johnson (Post Falls High) had five assists.

Simon had the highest point total by a Sun Devils player this season, making 9 of 11 shots.

Fresno State 84, Idaho 75: At Moscow, Idaho, Andrea Roberson scored a game-high 19 points to carry the Bulldogs (8-6) past the Vandals (3-9) in a Western Athletic Conference opener.

Fresno State took control by opening the second half with a 20-12 run. Sara Dennehy scored 17 points to lead four Vandals in double figures.

Washington 83, Arizona 66: At Tucson, Ariz., Cameo Hicks scored 18 points as the Huskies (12-4, 5-0 Pac-10) defeated the Wildcats (6-10, 0-4) for their ninth consecutive win.

EWU 69, Montana State 66: At Bozeman, Phynique Allen scored 18 points and Joanna Chadd hit a jumper with 21 seconds remaining to seal the Eagles’ win over the Bobcats (5-8) in a Big Sky Conference opener.

The Bobcats built their largest lead at 49-36 on a layup by Krislyn Wallace with 18:16 remaining. But the Eagles (6-8) responded with a 12-0 run that ended with 12:01 left.
