Epiphany services

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington St., is celebrating the feast of Theophany, or Epiphany, today with three services.

At 9 a.m. there will be an Orthros service. The Divine Liturgy of St. Basil with the Great Blessing of Water will be at 10 a.m., and at 1 p.m. the church will join with Christ the Savior Orthodox Church to bless the Spokane River on the Centennial Trail, 1.2 miles east of Argonne Road at mile marker 16 on Upriver Drive.

Orthodox Christmas

St. Gregorios Syrian Orthodox Church, 2803 N. Lincoln St., is celebrating Christmas according to the Julian calendar on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

The service will include two parts. The first is a lighting of a small fire of blessed palms and a burning of frankincense, which commemorates the gifts of the Magi. The second part is the Holy Qurbana, or liturgy.

Speaker event

Sarah Davis will speak Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the North Hill Masonic Lodge, 706 W. Garland Ave. She will speak on the topic “The Origins of Christianity Unveiled,” and Music for World Peace will perform.

Davis also will give readings from 1 to 4 p.m. at the lodge.
